► This peer-reviewed methods development research described an automated, modular workflow for unsupervised mass cytometry data analysis based on t-SNE/viSNE, clustering, and heatmaps. This work revealed the need for machine learning tools that can identify cells, addressed later by MEM in Diggins et al., Nature Methods 2017.
